Re: Lniksys EA9300 Wifi connection problem

Nothing new since last call from Linksys support a week ago but it is definitely something wrong with EA9300 if you can’t login with password to your own router on second 5Ghz band. I made some more tests and maybe it seems to be related to WPA2 because it works if you change security mode from WPA2 to WEP or NONE (no password) for second 5Ghz band. Changing other router settings dosen’t make any difference.

Worth nothing but I have a temporary solution that work for me besides resetting everything so if you have this problem:
1. Change security mode to NONE, channel width to AUTO, channel to AUTO and network mode to MIX (this one is important because it is not working every time using network mode as AC-ONLY, even more problems there?).
2. Reboot router.
3. Change only security mode to WPA2.
4. Reboot router again.
5. Now if you followed every step it should work to login on second 5Ghz band with WPA2. then changing network mode to AC-ONLY without rebooting router (it reboots Wifi only) usually works too but there is a big risk that after rebooting router all problems are coming back (sometimes it works even rebooting 2, 3 times but soon or later problems are coming definitely back. Notice that I made all steps with Linksys mobile app, next time I will repeat everything with web UI to eliminate that there is nothing crazy about changing settings with just mobile app or web UI.

If there is not enough with problems I notice also dropping Wifi connection (not internet) on both 5Ghz bands. 2.4Ghz band is fine. Those dropouts are very strange because they are very short (about 1 sec) so many services dosen’t notice this but as example while watching IPTV connection breaks. Watching IPTV on 2.4 band or wired ethernet works fine so those dropouts are not related to internet connection and I have tested this in last 3 weeks with direct connection to router without SMART CONNECT or any repeaters or extenders. Sometimes I’m loosing also connection to my router using Linksys Smart Wi-Fi cloud and this has nothing to do with internet connection because at the same time I can use internet from all of my devices but Linksys Smart Wi-Fi complains about no connection to router.

Right now I have really bad feelings about all of this and I hope that Linksys can sort out all of those problems as soon as possible because EA9300 could be a really good router. Right now is not.

Customer service was completely useless. Told me the issue was with my company's VPN, and when I contacted the IT department, they said the issue was with the router and the manufacturer. I'm returning this product, as they were not able to provide an adequate solution to an issue that only occurs while using this product.

i've had reliability issues with my 3200acm, too. 5G is completely unreliable and lately, my router has been dropping websites. Most websites are accessible but attempting to access craigslist, slickdeals.net, crutchfield.com, facebook fail with a timeout. Rebooting the 3200acm restores connectivity to these websites. During the period when these websites are unavailable, other websites are fine (espn.com, yahoo.com).

I just applied a fw update last night so hoping that resolves this website timeout issue.

What type of computer (PC, Mac, Linux,...) and VPN are you using to connect to the office.

Chadster766, you ask the same question for every post, but have yet to offer any solutions.

Linksys EA9500 Router Cascade

Hello

Having just purchased one of the above routers i would like to share my initial findings while setting up the router.

I am using this router in a cascade with a sky q router. Initially I tried to setup using the WAN internet port on the EA9500, but I wanted the sky router to manage DHCP device connections, so I had to disable DHCP on the EA9500, but this I found also disables DHCP on the WAN internet port - not good - A firmware upgrade definately required here. So Im currently connected to the lan input at the moment and wireless connections are fantastic and I can give the kids their own SSID each(and can turn them off individually if they misbehave).

However I have to put up with the constant flashing no WAN internet lights on the top of the router and no connection on the main router webpage, also the auto update service within the router does not work with this connection ie -server unavailable fo update-it must be looking for WAN internet connection only.

I lookforward to the firmware updates in future and to reading other comments.

I recommend you configure the EA9500 Internet Settings to Bridge Mode, assign it a Static IP Address at the same time and only connect it's WAN\Internet port to the upstream network.

Parental Controls Do not Work at all

I loved my new   - Max-Stream AC4000 router so much.  I went from crappy signal to huge wide internet all over my huge house and even down the street. a Total beast and seemingly worth $250 I paid for it which is about 3x more than I ever paid for a router over the last 20 years.

Then I setup per instruction the parental controls to block out my two kids phones from 11pm to 6am during school week, very easy setup, looked awesome.

To my shock, the kids hop on there anyways.  I double checked the IP they were connected to, the mac addresses, and it was them on the linksys router, full internet no matter when I had blocked them.  Manual blocking with the "block access" does nothing too.  Tested on all 5 iphones in our house and some other ipads..   Blocks do not work at all.

Now after doing research I see it's cause of the ipv4 ipv6 thing apparently Linksys software just can't block a IPv6 device?

I would take it all back but I threw away the box like an idiot after the thing worked great for a couple weeks.

Can someone from linksys confirm Parental controls will not work with any modern Iphone without disabling IPv6?

So upset.

I'm having same issues, I read it's because Linksys software won't block any ipv6 devices which all of apple products use and most new devices. $300 in the garbage here too I think

Cheers for the reply.

However it says that most of the router apps will be disabled and smart wifi will no longer work in bridge mode, so I was reluctant to use this method.

Still very happy with the outer though.

Thanks again

Most of those feature are dependant on the DHCP Server being enabled so you may lose them anyway Smiley Sad

I was in the same situation, flashed to DD-WRT for OpenVPN Client. Wifi LED Issues, slow speeds on 5GHz etc...

Just upgraded firmware to latest release from (within DD-WRT) : ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/08-03-2017-r33006/linksys-wrt3200acm/

My Wifi LED indicators are on now, and speeds at 5GHz are looking normal so far..

My question is.. why wouldn't DD-WRT "database" give you the latest release from their site when searching your router ?

http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

Even there it shows 30796 as beta?

Re: WRT1900AC - Wake on LAN from External Network Not Working ~10 Mins After Shutdown - ARP Tables

I went through all this several years ago with my Netgear WNDR3700v1. I thought it was a flaw in my router. I ended up loading the DDWRT firmware. This totally solved this issue. It wasnt hard to do at all. I just purchased a new Linksys WRT3200ACM hoping that this issue was resolved but it hasn't. So here I find myself having to attempt a firmware swap to DDWRT. I will say that my Netgear with DDWRT was very reliable for many years and the DDWRT has a command line tab to enter "arp -s 192.168.1.4 00:26:XX:XX:XX:XX" This entry took care of my Wake on LAN issue for the past 5 plus years. The wireless is starting to fail and is way out of date with wireless speeds today. I dont understand how others get this to work on home routers. 5 years later and a new $250 Linksys router and I have the same issue. Good luck

The reason is because the wireless drivers are still being worked on

Check your EA9300 settings for: Connectivity / Internet settings / IPv6 and set connection type to AUTOMATIC and IPv6 automatic to DISABLED and see if this help. I have many different iOS devices and they work with parental control.

There is an option to separate those 5ghz channels bondings and select channels and even change SSID names. It is a radio button that says OFF in the Wireless setting.

But I am sure you found that out by now. I am just testing this router as I got it today. Using as AP. It is fair.

Let oks like they finally might have fixed it. The newest firmware update seems to be stable. Going 3 days straight no issues and running faster than what I'm paying 100/10. Took a long time, but now I don't have to hear...Dad, internet is down, can you fix it 😝
