Hi @GP2020. Have you tried the workarounds given above? If not yet please try to do so and update us.

Noted on that, tyler_cortez.

If I may ask, were you able to properly setup your router again after you reset it? When you noticed this setback, did you also check your modem if its connection is stable? If not, if the setback recurs, kindly check that first. Then, kindly check if the cable that's coming from your modem is plugged in properly to the yellow "Internet port" of your router. If they are and the same setback is observed, we'll have our team assist you further. Just shoot us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com along with the following:

- Full Name

- Phone Number

- Complete Address (City and State)

- Linksys router serial number

- number of devices affected

- OS version running on the PC/Laptop used for troubleshooting

- Community Username and a link to this post for reference.

We look forward to hear from you.

Yes, I tried:

- as recommended a better network cable between modem and router. At present, I have a 200MHz CAT5e cable from the 1GBps filber modem to the router. But a CAT6a cable did not make a difference

- to make sure that the seeings file does not carry information that may cause the problem, I did a factory reset and then entered my configuration manually. Problem still persisted.

So far the conclusion is this: no problem at all with firmware 1.0.6.186168
and intermittent WAN connection losses with 1.0.8.199531 no matter what I tried.

What else could I try?

Not necessarily... there are plenty of instances where devices do not auto-negotiate speed/duplex settings correctly, regardless of which port is used. I will give it a shot though, in a couple of days, when I get back home.

Helloo---

I did already, and was contacted - that led to more tests.

We came to the conclusion that I cannot do more;

So, I offered Linksys my help, when a new firmware shall be tested, as I can reproduce the problem reliably.

Also, I suggested to make the older firmware 1.0.6.186168 available to those who have the same problem so that we might be able to a) help them and b) learn more about the issue.

With the latest firmware, the product may be not usable for many people.

Best,

Nope. These "workarounds" are just delaying the remedy. The new firmware 1.0.8.199531 is bad. Until Linksys fixes it, I'm happy to roll back to the previous verison.

Hi, @amacias20

Thanks for reaching out to us. To verify, is it also happening to those devices connected to your 2.4 GHz networks on your router? How about the wired devices connected to the router? Is it having the same setback? If so, can you check the firmware of your router? Please make sure that it's updated to the latest one.

Got that. You may try checking those connections and let's see if it makes any difference. By the way, is it happening to all your wireless devices? Also, may we know the speed test tool that you used so we can check on it?

ok so i did this

Set the Media Prioritization Downstream Bandwidth setting to 1000kbps or 0, apply the setting to properly initialize MP and then disable it.

and now my laptop is getting from the wifi 330 so thats better... but not enough i think if this device should reach at least the 600mbs via wifi right?

Got you on that, amacias20. We may try changing the channels and see if there's a different result. For the 5 GHz network, channels 36, 40, 44, and 48 are recommended to less likely encounter interference.

Also, may we know how many devices are connected to the network?

Well, I set up an extension ethernet cable and made sure there wasn't any loos. Then tried setting up the router in various location all around the house. Could never get more than 20 mps with the 145mps on hardwire. I did get 40mps on the 5ghz close to the router.

The only next thing I can think of is to set up the router at my neighbors house and see if I get the strong wireless like he does.

Same problem. And now when I power cycle the router doesn’t seem to connect at all and the Linksys light just flashes. Honestly this is one of the most trash products I have ever owned. I’ve sent numerous support messages through the app and have yet to get a single reply. If I’ve been sold a trash product that gets zero support I wish someone would just tell me so I can move on to something halfway decent.
