Thanks, I'll try those things and let you know.
Re: Slow Wireless on EA 9200
Re: Linksyssmartwifi.com
Find the IP address assigned to the router on your PC. For example it will be 192.168.1.1 by default. Find My Linksys Router IP.
For instance, you can open a command prompt and type ipconfig. Look for the default gateway. Use that IP address to access the Linksys router. I mentioned a site "Find My Linksys Router IP" here you can check IP for any windows OS version or macOS.
Re: EA6200 - External Storage - Shares - Window workgroups
Apologies for the oversight, @Buddiemac. Be advised that a Homegroup’s purpose is to easily facilitate the sharing of files and printers with other people on a home network. This feature doesn’t work on public or business networks because it is designed specifically for home users. With that, we suggest contacting your Windows PC/laptop's manufacturer as settings are made to the PC/laptop itself. So long as the storage device is working fine in the router, it should be accessible within the Homegroup.
Re: Linksyssmartwifi.com
Once again, for those who don't pay attention to the details posted, the local router is not the device being managed. LinksysSmartWiFi.com is useful to access and manage remote Linksys Smart Wifi router using a LinksysSmartWiFi online account attached to the router to be managed. I have Linksys routers in half a dozen different locations that can be accessed and managed in this way.
In any event, it seems that in the year and half since I posted this question, Linksys has resolved whatever issue there was with the site and the Chrome browser, and it is now possible to use Chrome to remotely manage these devices.

WRT1900AC with DD-WRT , SERVICES,VPN,CLIENT UDP internet lost as soon as VPN initiated
ISP High Speed Cable Modem connected to WRT1900AC DD-WRT (Main Router)
WRT1900AC DD-WRT (GatewayHCP:Enabled, NO VPN), 192.168.1.1 connected [LAN to WAN] to DD-WRT2 (2nd Router)
WRT1900AC DD-WRT2 (GatewayHCP:Enabled, YES VPN) 192.168.2.1
Both routers have no difficulty connecting to the internet, UNTIL, I initiate OpenVPN Client on DD-WRT2 (2nd Router), the connection to VPN service [UDP port 53], results in a Status: Success, with new ip address assigned (???), however any and all attempts to access internet FAIL. I am unable to determine if I have a new external ip address assigned, nor can i visit any web site. As soon as I set SERVICES, VPN, OpenVPN CLIENT to DISABLED, and save and apply. I IMMEDIATELY have access once again to the internet and any web sites.
VPN provider suggested BLOCKED ports on my router... I have no iptables installed or port trigger or port forwrd on either router. (Nor do i know what or how to accomplish that; or if it is necessary)
I did however, initiate a PORT FORWARDING TESTER for the following ports:
Closed: 21,25,,80,110,443,3389,5632,5900,
Open:: 22,23,53
Of note; this test is against my external ip address provided by ISP.
not against my internal DD-WRT2 Router at 192.168.2.1 or WAN Ip: 192.168.1.148
Not sure what else i can provide, but port 443 is that not what is used for OpenVPN Client
PLease help me make access to OpenVPN through my Linksys WRT1900Ac v1 Router possible....
EA4500 Router not producing ISP Cable Modem Hard-Wired Speed
I recently upgraded my ISP subscription speed to 300 Mbps and was given a new compatible cable modem. This modem supports 1G speed.
I noticed a DL speeds were not what I was expecting. When I hardwired my laptop to the cable modem I was consistently getting speeds from 175-250 Mbps. When I hardwired my laptop to the EA4500 I got less than half that speed,
I've spent hours on the chat with support and made some tweaks to improve speed (MTU size, turning off media prioritization, etc)
Still, there is a degradation of ~50% using the router's 5GHz channel and 80-90% on the 2.4GHz channel and they've punted me up to level2 support and I've been waiting for a return call.
Does anyone in the community or moderators have any guidance?
Re: Parental Controls (Fix) EA8300
It's the Year 2020 and I still can't use parent control. I hope Linksys can put some effort into fixing their software. The Firmware has not been updated for 2 years. Please provide a fix this issue.
Re: EA8300 wireless bridge mode, diags full of nonsense
natting in bridge mode is garbage.
Re: Linksys capabilities vs Gryphon
Hello MoH1,
It is best to have your Velop Mesh System act as the main connection to be able to utilize the seamless mesh connection and coverage with your household and just have your WRT3200ACM cascaded to it. Here's a link on how you can cascade both router's (you'll the option on having to broadcast 2 networks or just one): https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=132275
Re: Linksys capabilities vs Gryphon
Thanks a lot for your response.
Am I going to be able to apply VPN for the whole home ( through WRT3200) when WRT3200 acts as a secondary router (cascaded to the mesh system)?
I guess WRT3200 will be able to control only the devices connected to it but will have no control over the devices connected to the mesh system?
Also, what is the benefit/value of such configuration (to have the Mesh System act as the main connection and have WRT3200ACM cascaded to it)?
Re: CG7500 issue need help.
I have sent the email. I am really starting to get frustrated with this and I really would appreciate any help I can get.
Re: Linksys capabilities vs Gryphon
Thank you, Mark-22022,
I will go with your recommendation.
Re: Parental Controls (Fix) EA8300
Re: EA8300 wireless bridge mode, diags full of nonsense
Hi Nhinkle,
As you may already know, setting your router to bridge mode is like making it act like a range extender. Its basically echoing your main router's configurations.
Re: Linksys capabilities vs Gryphon
You can apply the VPN only to the devices connected to the router you set it up to.
"I guess WRT3200 will be able to control only the devices connected to it but will have no control over the devices connected to the mesh system?" -- That is correct.
"Also, what is the benefit/value of such configuration (to have the Mesh System act as the main connection and have WRT3200ACM cascaded to it)?" -- The benefit of having your Velop act as the source of connection is that, you're assured that your home/office is fully covered. Especially when you cascade your WRT3200ACM to it.
You can always tap us here if you need us for setup and other concern.
Re: EA8300 wireless bridge mode, diags full of nonsense
Mark,
I don't want a range extender, I want a bridge. I am using the wifi to cover a gap where running cat6a is a good bit of work. All I want the ea8300 to do is relay the packets back and forth between my main wifi and the es8300's wired ports (I don't need it to extend the wifi network - this is for wired devices).
The ea8300 gets in the way - it does not just relay the packets from one network to the next as a wired bridge does, it intervenes and NATs the packets; that is, it substitutes its' MAC address for all the devices attached to it. This means access out from the devices attached to the ea8300 is fine, but access to the devices attached to the ea8300 is trashed due to the natting. DNS, DHCP, and all the rest on the main wifi network is trashed due the the ea8300 doing NAT instead of spoofing.
So, I reiterate, the ea8300 in bridge mode is garbage due to its doing NAT instead of bridging.

WRT32X Wifi issues
Hi, I'm really struggling with my brand new WRT32X. I bought it to replace my ageing TP Link N600, as the Wifi was getting really flakey - drop offs, Wifi rebooting etc..
But, it seems the new WRT32X has other problems. Could do with some advice - do I have a faulty unit?
So, I first put OpenWRT on (DavidC502 build), and although Wifi was strong, I always had the following issues that I've been trying to diagnose, with no result:
- Web pages loading really intermittently. One minute they're all loading perfectly, and then the next they're hanging/cannot be displayed/slow. During this, speed tests are all fine, and latency tests (even loaded) are good - which I can't understand. This is on 2.4 and 5ghz.
Tried loads of different advice, and got nowhere. Finally switched it back out to my old TP Link and it's back to full speed - not a problem until the wifi resets occasionally. Same position, same cables, same modem etc.
- Also on OpenWRT, it seems over sensitive to DFS channels. Seems to keep switching channels during the day. I've read that's a bug on the Marvell Wifi driver available for 3rd party software.
So, I've decided to go back to Stock firmware. Did a reset of OpenWRT settings, loaded firmware from Linksys site on, and started configuring it.
- Now I can't get Wifi working at all!
I have 2 SSIDs setup (test2 and test5), both with passwords. Yet the only SSID's output are "MarvellAP00" and "MarvelAP10" - both open networks, and I can't connect to either of them if I try.
Anyone else had this before? Can't see I've set anything up wrong (there aren't many options in stock), but whatever I do, it will not use the SSIDs that I say?
Re: Parental Controls (Fix) EA8300
Re: Linksys capabilities vs Gryphon
Thank you again, Mark-22022. I really appreciate your response.
Now I have a clarifying question:
"You can apply the VPN only to the devices connected to the router you set it up to."
So, accordingly to your suggested configuration: Modem >> Velop >> WRT3200, I won't be able to leverage the VPN feature in WRT3200 since it won't be connected directly to the modem.
If I found that I really needed to use the VPN feature in WRT3200, would you advise that I change the configuration to Modem >> WRT3200 >> Velop? especially that when I was operating only the Velop, I did not have any connectivity issues in my house. I just got the WRT3200 to leverage its additional control features such as VPN.
Another quesiton: the modem I am using is actually a WiFi cable modem router, I am using it in bridge mode.
https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/cable-modems-routers/C6300.aspx
Can I configure it back to the routing mode and connect both the Velop and the WRT3200 directly to it? Would that be a better configuration that allows me to leverage the full features of both the WRT3200 and the Velop?
