Re: EA6200 - External Storage - Shares - Window workgroups
Hi James, I am not having a problem sharing Shares with the EA6200. I have been using this feature along with media DNLA feature for a while now. My question is more network related than creating disk paritions and file Shares. The router works fine with these functions. And I am glad to have them and use them.
My question is more a networking question with windows workgroups. Typically, a networked device, that is not on a Domain, will be part of a Windows workgroup. It seems the router defaults and joins the workgroup named "WORKGROUP". So my better questions are:
1) Confirm that the router defaults to workgroup named "WORKGROUP"?
2) Can the workgroup be changed?
WRT1900ACS last update 2.0.3.201002

MR8300v1 randomly restarting
Hello,
I seem to having exactly the same issue as mentioned in this previous thread:
I have tried resetting the router to factory default settings and I have confirmed that it is operating on the most recent firmware version.
The router seems to be power cycling randomly. All wired and wireless devices lose connectivity and the wifi network is no longer present. Once the router has rebooted, everything works fine (takes a couple minutes). This happens once or twice a day, best I can tell.

EA6900 only getting 1 of 4 wired pc’s provisioned speed
I have a Netgear CM1100 modem (about six months old) and a Linksys EA6900 ver1 Router up to date firm. Wired Windows 10 machines latest updates and up to date drivers on network adapters. No Cable TV service. Background, I have Comcast internet service that was Extreme service 300 down and up I do not remember. I changed my service to Extreme Pro 600 down 20 up. At first, I was not getting my speeds on all my computers on the network. Called Comcast and was told I needed a fiber drop to get my speeds and to expect a call from a technician to ask about access to the house some equipment questions and set a date for the work. The technician calls, I give him the rundown of what is happening, and he said that the first person I talked to at Comcast was wrong, they run up to gigabit speed on coax. The technician said he would setup a time to test the drop, I told the technician in the meantime that I would try moving the modem to the basement and connect it to the drop that terminates just inside the wall eliminating excessive coax and improving the possible signal loss that could happen. I put an Inspiron One computer downstairs a couple of feet from the modem. I reset the modem connect the computer and I am still not getting the speeds.
I notice a comcast van pull up unannounced while I am testing the new modem placement. I give him the run down and he connects his tester/ handheld computer and shows me that the modem is getting the speed tier I am paying for. We try to get the computer to pull the speeds and finally do after he reconnects his handheld computer again (I presume to check the speeds the modem is pulling again) and I power cycle both modem and pc. I do not know which of the prosses worked or if it was a combination of all three. I thought, okay the modem and or speed tier did not like the long coax cable run from the cable drop entering the house to the office upstairs. I leave the modem connected near the drop and I ran and tested a new cat5e cable run I made from the modem to the router. I bring the test computer back upstairs and test the new cat5e run directly connected to the computer. Still getting the speeds so I connect the cat cable to the WAN on the router. Power cycle modem and router connect computers to router and the test computer is the only computer getting the speeds. I test other computers directly connected to the modem and I get roughly the same low speeds I get when behind the router, 100 to 125mbps.
I have reset the modem and the router multiple times and did a network reset on each computer. I also installed a PCI network card thinking maybe the onboard network adapter is going bad, no luck. So, I had a crazy thought, maybe the test computer mac address got assigned somehow to the modem and or my account in some freak way. (knowing that I know that Comcast only wants the mac address of the modem). So, I disconnected everything and reset the modem and router. I went into the connectivity settings and cloned the mac address of the test pc before setting up the modem. Confirmed that the router was connected to the internet then power cycled the network only to get the same low speeds. I have never had this much trouble with this router and a cable modem. This router has seen two previous modems come and die in its history. I have also tested using an ASUS TM-AC1900 router that T-Mobile gave me for my dead cell signal at home. Same results as the Linksys router. At this point I am not sure how to go about this issue. I do not want to blindly throw new equipment at it in the hopes that it will work and the thought of searching for what windows update or process has possibly messed things up has me thinking that the four wisdom teeth I had removed at one time wasn’t so bad after all. I am hoping that someone will come along and tell me what I have so obviously failed to see right in front of me, a kick myself moment.
Re: EA6700 lose connection daily
Also,
To update the firmware, you can open the Linksys Smart WiFi App, go to Menu > Network Administration > Automatic firmware update. Alternatively, you can go to the router settings page, go to Connectivity > Check for Updates.
I hope this helps!
Re: Connection Problem
Hello tpb001739,
This brings up a lot of questions.
1. Do you have the same problem when accessing other websites?
2. If yes, What lights are lit on the router, how about the modem?
3. In no, are you trying to connect to a VPN?
Re: i can't map a network drive (EA6500)
Hi All,
This is my first post on Linksys forum.
I faced the same issue and i wanted to share my solution with the group.
After almost one day, i eventually been able to access my hard drive as well as my printer, both attached to my EA6500.
To share your hard drive:
- I enabled SMB V1.0 (W10 Pro V1909)
- log in to your router then click on external storage
- click on the Folder Access tab
- enable secure folder access
- create shares with password (admin / guest)
- now try to map your drive on W10 (This PC -> map network drive)
- in drive, select the letter you want
- click on browse -> network -> click on your router name
- click on the shared folder windows shows
- confirm by OK
- pay attention that Reconnect at sign-in is checked
- You did it!
To share a printer:
1. Log in to your router
2. Click on Device List on the left pan
3. Click on +Add a device
4. A drop down menu will appears to choose what kind of device you want to add
5. Select USB Printer
6. On the number 2 of the list you will have a link to download setup.zip
7. Download setup.zip and extract the content of the file somewhere on your computer
8. According to your windows version, select the right version of the software.
9. Run Cosetup.exe in order to install the utility software.
10. You should be able to use your shared printer now if this one is compatible with the router
Re: ABOUT MR9000X sometimes shut down
I took it back to the store and replaced it with a new one, it should be a hardware problem, because the firmware is new
Re: EA6900 only getting 1 of 4 wired pc’s provisioned speed
It is pretty apparent that one of two things is going on here....1.) the ISP hasn't configured your modem/service for the correct service you are paying for. Your statement of "connecting directly to the modem with your pc" was telling. Sometimes it is difficult getting to the correct department that can configure your service...especially with the BYOM (Bring your own modem) Make sure they know what modem they are testing or configuring (once my ISP had them trying to configure an old modem I had 8 years ago!)
2.) Is it possible your NIC in your PC is "hard coded" at 100mbps?

Linksys capabilities vs Gryphon
Hello,
I am new to the Linksys community and I would really appreciate your help.
I had a Gryphon Mesh WiFi Security Router & Parental Control System. I purchased a new Linksys WRT3200 WIfFi router.
The network configuration that I currently have looks like this: the Linksys router is connected to the modem and the Gryphon router is connected to the Linksys router. The Gryphon is broadcasting to the home network. In this configuration teh Linksys is acting as a middle man and I am loosing most of the Linksys capabilities. Therfore I want to change it.
The reason I am using Gryphon router is that it helps me (1) detect newly added devices to the network and notify me through Gryphon mobile app so I can approve/disapprove them (2) assign users to the devices connected to the network and manage the user privilage (3) block the kids access to malicious websites (4) log the kids visited websites (5) the kids can send requests via Gryphon app to allow a blocked website.
Can I get these functions through my new Linksys WRT3200 WIfFi router (or by installing DD-WRT) and stop using the Gryphon router?
Thank you so much,
Mo

Re: EA6200 - External Storage - Shares - Window workgroups
As for the router, if you are using the USB storage feature on it, access the setup page of the router and click the Storage tab then click on the Administration subtab. From there, you will see the workgroup name and on the box, that is where you can type in the workgroup name that you assigned for your network.
Also, there is no option to change the workgroup name on Linksys smart wifi and you can only find that option if you will are using the classic user interface. If you really want to change the workgroup name, you can either try the following: Try to change the computer's workgroup name to match the router.

Re: WRT1900ACS last update 2.0.3.201002
Hi morgapaa,
Is there an error message you are getting when you are trying to access the router’s web user interface? Did you try accessing the page using its default IP Address? You may access the router’s web user interface by entering its IP Address or you may type "myrouter.local". Try checking the router’s IP Address and see if it has changed. You may check out this link as your guide. If the IP Address has changed, try using that one and see if you can access the page then.

Re: EA6900 only getting 1 of 4 wired pc’s provisioned speed
Yea, that was one of the first things I had thought of in the beginning of this speed issue and checked that the ISP had provisioned the modem correctly and the correct modem. Confirmed speed tier was correct and confirmed the modem MAC address they had on file on my account, also had line test done. I know that the modem is providing the speed I am paying for via using the Inspiron One computer directly connected to the modem. I used that same cat5e to connect the modem to the router. The same Inspiron One computer also gets the speed behind the router, but the other computers do not.
Comcast has a Modem self-install app that they push on everyone and that is how I installed it / set it up on my account six months ago. I do know that you can still call Comcast and get a human to add and remove equipment to your account. I have thought about having the modem removed and then adding it back to the account, kind of in the same way I have done multiple resets of my equipment, start fresh. I might do that soon, schedule an hour to an hour and a half to set on the phone waiting for a human.
All NIC’s in all PC’s are showing 1000mbps under properties.
Re: MR8300v1 randomly restarting
Hi @nmalgieri. May we know how long have you been experiencing this concern? Are there any changes made before this happened? Have you tried the workaround given on that thread? If not yet, please try to do so.
