Glad you got it figured out and it was cableing.
I would try CAT6 class cabling as well.
As for the LAN HUB, it may not be compatible as there are differences between LAN wired HUB and SWITCHES. Switches are preferred. Gb speed as well over 100Mb or 10Mb hub.
