Re: VPN on EA9500

Port Forward: TCP Any --> 12345

I need to port foward TCP (and/or UDP) Any (port) to a specific port.  My old FIOS router and most of the older routers I have used were able to specify an NAT IP, Protocol(s), "any" external ports to internal ports().  Does the EA6400 have this option?  I see where you can specify single or multiple external ports but it does not appear to have an "Any" option.  I'm not an expert router guy.  Is 0 - 65535 the same as other routers 'Any" setting?

Also, does the router's logs show firewall blocked packets?  If so, how can I view that log?

Thanks,

That is kinda where I thought this might end up but wanted to see if maybe I was just missing something is setting up that static route. I have used DDWRT on an OLD linksys years ago...

I guess first thing I have to make sure is I can still get the factory firmware for this one in case I need/want to go back to it. I'll have to see if they have that available to download.

What about using OpenWrt on the EA9500. Wouldn't that be a way to get VPN on the device ?

Yes there are stock firmwares to download, to go back, if you can't find them, just ask.

I know Brain Slayer just fixed a firmware size error, which I think, made you flash to partition 1, he also has it so you can flash back to stock within the GUI on DD-WRT, a lot fo people have  had luck with it.

Re: EA2700 constantly rebooting dropping all connections

I also have an EA2700 with the latest firmware. Going to the power cycle, pressing the reset button and configuring the rooter makes it work for an hour or so. After that it keeps rebooting every couple of minutes. Repeating the power cycle, reset ... makes it work again for another hour. After that the same hell starts.

It is very frustrating to experience this with a router that worked without any issue for more than 6 years. Would you suggest buying a new router?

Thanks

My old router allowed something like the following:

192.168.12.34     TCP Any --> 5678

I'm not looking for the packet data.  I'm looking for a log entry saying that it was blocked so I can open a port if an application requires it.

Bro, if you want it to work, make a hard reset and don't update the firmware. Let it on the basic Cisco firmware. Belkin is messing up with the customers with the firmwares that they create. <br>The only inconvenient on the Cisco firmware is that it has a slower speed on the 5Ghz network, from what i tested. Anyway, i replaced the router. 😁

Hi, Stefff83.

Can you access the router's User Interface? To assist you accordingly, may we know the model number of your Linksys Router?

EA 8500 WiFi signal coverage

Hi there!

Could you please comment about ea8500 5Hz signal coverage distance? It's significantly degradated just about in 10 steps out of router. Doesn't look ok.  Is that something in settings I can check to increase it? InSSider doesnt show much noise for 5Hz and by only one concurrent networks around 75-80 dB. Any suggestions? 2.4 has much much better coverage for that distance.

Thank you.

Slow Wired & Wireless Internet Speeds - EA9300

$

I am a DSL customer of my ISP and pay for 10 Mbps download internet access.

When I plug the DSL modem directly into my PC via a twisted-pair cable, speed-test websites report about 9.1 Mbps download speeds.

When I plug the modem into my EA9300 router and connect my PC via twisted-pair cable to the EA9300 router, the same speed-test websites report between 1.9 and 2.6 Mbps download speeds.

I have read the similar message thread for the EA9500 router and followed that thread's tips of setting the Media Prioritization to give priority to the PC, setting the router's MTU to 1500 and turning-off IPV6. However, those changes do not alter the speeds reported by the speed-test websites.

There are no other computers, TVs, or other streaming devices connected via twisted-pair when I run the performance tests. There are 2 Nest video door-bells and 10 Blink home security camers connected via WiFi during the performance tests.

What else can I do to boost the PC's internet speed while connected via the EA9300 router? Is the router starting to fail?

Thank you in advance.

Cannot access admin functions on m10 Valet after changing address to 192.168.1.2

I'm trying to modify the admin setttings in an m10 Valet to operate as  a switch, to extend my wireless coverage.  I was following instructions, the first of which said to log in to admin at 192.168.1.1, which I did.  Next, disable DHCP and change the address to 192.168.1.2, and save the changes.  When I saved the changes, I got a screen that said something like, "Changes are saved, returning to previous screen",or something similar.  The screen never reloaded or changed, so I rebooted everything.  Now, I can't access the router's admin functions using either the 192.168.1.1 or the 192.168.1.2 address.  Is there a fix for this, or am I just out of luck?

Thanks in advance,

I have a WRT1900ACS V1 and have never had any issues accessing the UI of my current SB6183 or my previous SB6141 modem. I think the loopback setting OMG is referring to is, "filter internet NAT redirection" found under the security section of the router UI. If it is selected try de-selecting it. If that doesn't work you may need to factory reset your router and, or the modem.

Also, if you are trying to access the modem wireless, make sure "access via wireless" is enabled under connectivity/admin.

Hi, esalkin. We don’t have a specific view for log entries of the blocked ports. However, we can view what are the ports that has been opened or ports that you’ve triggered/forwarded.

Re: EA6900 Router Time incorrect

With Linksys Smart Wi-Fi routers, you cannot set the time manually (which would be a nice feature request for Cisco/Linksys to add to a future firmware update since your competitors like Netgear, Belkin, Siemens and the Chinese generics have had this option for years).

All you can do is set the Time Zone and Daylight Savings Time option on the Connectivity-Basics tab.  The router then syncs with I assume is either a firmware hardcoded Internet Time Server or your Internet Service Provider's switch clock.

To check what your Smart WiFi router's time is ... go to the Troubleshooting-Status tab and click on "report" (it defaults to showing you "devices") ...

If your Smart Wi-Fi router never connects to the Internet on it's WAN port and you're just using it as an isolated switch/hub to create a Wireless local network to connect a bunch of computers in your  home or office only ... forget about time settings.  If you need to be able to manually set your router's time, you'll need to get a different router model all together.

Re: 2.4 Ghz issues EA8500

If anyone is curious about this one, the issue seems to be tied to running the diagnostic tool on the EA8500 (http://routerip/sysinfo.cgi). All connections are fine wth 2.4 ghz APs up until the diagnostic tool is run on the EA8500. After that something happens and 2.4ghz connections get all screwy between the EA8500 and 2.4 ghz clients. Can this please be looked into further? This happens whether the EA8500 is in gateway mode or bridge mode, doesn't matter. Running the diagnostic tool triggers disconnections... Below is the log output from one of the RE7000's connected to the EA8500's 2.4ghz band: (I've highlighted when the tool was run on the EA8500)

Re: EA 8500 WiFi signal coverage

Hello, ValentinS. Help is here. Is this working fine before? Is the EA8500 running on its latest version? Also, is this true to all of the devices trying to connect to the 5 GHz? Note that putting the router into a more central location makes a big difference when it comes to performance. For isolation, let’s try playing around the wireless channels if it will make an improvement. For the 5 GHz network, channels 364044 and 48 are recommended to less likely encounter interference. Let us know how it goes.
