Had I bothered to look for this sooner I would had saved a few hours.The router does not have a 80 MHz only setting on the 5 GHz band. To use 802.11ac, the Channel Width needs to be set to Auto.

The SSID's ending with TEST are the WRT1900AC the othe is a NG r6300v2 I am sitting in oppisite end of my home within 5 feet of the r6300v2. The WRT-test is at opposite end of my home.
