CG7500 Ethernet port failure

Every few days the Ethernet ports on my CG7500 just apparently "stop working". The ports show link & activity indicators, but the connected devices report "no connection". I am using nothing exotic... straight IPv4, DHCP with a limited number of connectons, plus static network devices. I thought it was just a defective device... I returned it & got another one... same problem. Firmware shows current, router works normally on Wifi and ethernet... until the ports stop working... the wifi continues to operate normally afterward, and nothing corrects it but a power fail / restart, then it'll be fine until the ports fail again. I have reset & reconfigured the router several times using different settings, I have isolated each device on the network by connecting them one at a time to the router's Ethernet ports (using each port)... same issue no matter what is connected or what port it's attached to. Devices are varied and common... Xbox 360, Xbox One, smart TV, brother laser printer, samsung laser printer, Lenovo laptop, Linksys router / hub in bridge mode. I even defaulted the network settings to make sure some way the network was configured could be doing it. I' m calling it a fault with the model of router... as THREE of them have done the same thing... but a similar older Surfboard unit with Ethernet and Wifi runs just fine... but doesn't have as many cablemodem channels to support my provider connection as the LSys CG or I'd just continue using it.
