Yeah, if you are experiencing the problem like I have, the plugging in of the drive is what triggers the router to crash. There is never an opportunity to safely remove it, because all connections to the router are lost. And, yes, the drive can then be messed up. I have been burned by Linksys enough on this that I will never be plugging a drive into one of their routers again, nor will I ever use or buy one again. If a drive is not going to work, the router should just ignore it rather than crash and corrupt it.
